Concerts April 22 and 23: Music from the Heartland
The River Heights Chorale Presents
Music from the Heartland
Choral music has existed in America since the Colonial period when the early pioneers who came to this country brought different types of music from their cultures and beliefs. It was not until the twentieth century where the impact of those influences began to fully flourish helping shape American music.
“Music from the Heartland” highlights some of those influences in American Choral music. This high energy concert brings together the sounds from the Appalachians to folk music influenced by the western frontier, from distinct southern harmonies and here in the Midwest. You will hear some of the most popular choral works, such as “Shenandoah,” “Keep Your Lamps,” “Down to the River to Pray,” “The Gift to be Simple,” and many more. This is perhaps the most energetic concert The River Heights Chorale has put together and one you will be sure to enjoy. Join us this Spring as we celebrate “Music from the Heartland.”
Admissions are free but goodwill donations are appreciated.
